Happy New Year!

I hope everyone is doing well after New Years Eve and settling into 2011 comfortably today.

We had a very nice New Year’s Eve. Nothing too crazy (we were feeling a little too off still to stay up late) but we did go out to Henrietta’s Table, a lovely farm to table restaurant in Harvard Square.  The place was hopping for New Years and we had managed to get a 6:30 reservation. I made a quick snack to get us to our reservation:

Snack for the afternoon: Egg salad with homemade mayo, and relish, and Rye Flat Breads using freshly ground rye and a recipe from "American Wholefoods Cuisine"

Then we headed down to Harvard Square for a sumptuous local meal made by someone other than us.  I will say that we had gone to Henrietta’s Table before, and found it to be quite up our ally:  Homey Gourmet Cooking with a strong focus on local, humane, seasonal eating. Here is our recap of our New Year’s Eve meal:

Henrietta's Table's mascot appears to be a pig.

Rabbit Terrine, with Mustard and Cranberry sauce, Microgreens and Sliced Blood Oranges- YUM!

Smoked Scallop Salad with spinach and shredded carrot and radish, in a beach plum vinagrette.

The vegetarian entree: Roasted Buttercup Squash with Gilfeather Turnip, Celeriac, Carrot, Chard cooked with Heirloom Beans and Quinoa in a refreshing lemony sauce.

Baked Gloucester Scrod.

Chocolate Bread Pudding with Taza Chocolate, caramel, banana and vanilla ice cream.

Boston Cream Pie 'Skyline' Style.

Complementary Pig Shaped Gingerbread Cookies.

We emerged from Henrietta’s Table quite full and happy.  It was a delightful dinner, concreting Henrietta’s Table as perhaps the closest restaurant establishment to our hearts at present.  We then went home, loved on our pets and went to bed promptly, far before midnight.

As for our New Years Day Plans, we hope to make a lovely local New Year’s feast to bring in the new year with good food and luck.  But, we have yet to figure out what it’s going to be…. so stay tuned.  We’ll see what we come up with.

[PS:  To calm any confusion, our local year ends in early June 2011. We celebrated our half way mark in early December.  A little less than six more months to go!]

    Happy New Year!

Thank you so much for joining us for NYE Supper at Henrietta’s Table. We’re so happy to hear that you enjoyed your meal and the atmosphere. Thank you for sharing your experience on your blog. We look forward to welcoming you back to HT in the not so distant future! And, you are correct – Henrietta is indeed a pig. She used to live on our owner’s farm on Martha’s Vineyard.

    • Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks! Happy New Year to you!
We had a great time at Henrietta’s Table on New Years Eve. We liked everything, food, staff, ambiance. The interior decorating of the place is what we’ve always wanted for a kitchen, and the food was way way up our alley. We actually bought the Fresh and Honest cookbook, and will be trying various recipes in the near future. Keep up the great work you guys are doing!
      Cheers,
      Laura
