CSA Share for the Week

Red Fire Farm Veggie, Fruit and Egg share this week!

This Friday we got quite a cornucopia of produce love from Red Fire Farm.  It certainly made my distribution worth it, seeing as it rained the whole time.  We got corn, onions, garlic, lettuce, beet greens, basil, cucumber, beets, tomatoes, potatoes, and summer squash.  The fruit share entailed blueberries and peaches!  Nom nom nom.  It was gorgeous.

Copious Dill

We also bulk ordered dill, green beans and cucumbers, which all come in with the Friday Distribution.  We are psyched to make pickled cucumbers and green beans, we also hope to freeze some green beans, if we don’t eat them all this week.

Green Beans, Tomato, Summer Squash, Basil and Garlic Saute over Polenta with Poached Eggs and served with grated italian style cheese

For our after distribution celebratory meal, we made a lovely polenta dish, with green beans, tomatoes, summer squash, basil and garlic topped with poached eggs.  Delicious!

Fresh Egg and Veggie goodness!

For dessert Theresa went a little crazy with the rest of our brownies and whipped cream and blueberries, and made something quite lovely looking and of course very tasty.

Brownie Double Decker

We will be heading off to Stillmans Farm tomorrow to tour the meat and veggie farms.  We’ll be heading out a little late, and so we may not make it to the potluck.  Either way, we’re excited to go check out the farms that are a source of really great meat and veggies that we always enjoy.  We’ll also try to get some pickling in tomorrow too, if we can manage.
