Oh what a great idea~ Thank you!
I've been browsing your site, getting tips and ideas about local grains and what to do with them, etc. I don't have a grain mill yet, but I'm hoping very soon to get one. I was thinking of using the food safe plastic tubs to store large quantities of the whole wheat berries, but I simply love your idea of using the old glass hinged canning jars. I inherited boxes of them from my MIL this summer, and this would be perfect. Glass is so much better than plastic...this is awesome.
Thanks for your tips, I wish you would post an update as I'd love to hear what you are doing now!

There is no way those red rocks are a cross between a rir and a barred rock. That cross would yeild a black bird. These are most likely a red over a white rock if indeed it is a rir over a rock. Most lijely they are realy just a strain of commercial layers that are very selectively breed using 2 -4 lines

I am one of those people out there who had absolutely no idea what to do with radicchio. I wish I had read this before I made a slaw with it tonight (found via Pinterest), and could have purchased ingredients that pair with it better. So far my dish has olive oil, white wine vinegar, and snap peas in it, but I think I may go doctor it up with some lemon juice and bacon to add a bit more depth to the dish. Great post!!

Your garden looks very good and the gardeners hat is to die for! Those strawberries look sooooo good. I'm so proud of you two sticking to your localvore roots (pun intended) and I'm glad you get to run the CSA again this year as I know how much Laura enjoys it. Keep us updated with "how the garden grows" shots! Love you both ... Dad
